Olive oil & its fractions,
refined
but not chemically modified, weighing with the immediate
container
18kg
or over NOTE: This could include oil that is referred to in the
US market as "pure olive oil"
or "light olive oil"
Turkey allows the export of both "pure" and "light"
mixtures of refined olive oil with virgin or extra virgin olive oil. The
only difference between these products is the percentage of virgin or extra
virgin olive oil blended back into to the refined olive oil.
"Pure" olive oil has a higher percentage of virgin or extra virgin
olive oil blended back into it than "light" olive oil does.

Olive oil & its fractions,
refined
but not chemically modified, weighing with the immediate
container
under
18kg
NOTE: In the US this oil is usually labeled as "pure
olive oil" or sometimes as
"light
olive oil". Since refined olive oil has alone has no flavor or
odor virgin or extra virgin olive oil is blended back into retail products
to give an olive taste and aroma. Currently Turkey does not allow the export
of retail olive oil labeled "light", but it does allow the export
of retail products labeled "pure".

Olive-residue
oil
and blends
of olive oil with oil-residue oil, not chemically modified weighing with the immediate container
under
18kg NOTE: This oil is labeled at "olive
pomace oil" in the US market. Some Olive pomace oil labels will
will also include words like "enriched with extra virgin olive
oil" in large letters. This seems to us an attempt to deceive the
buyer. All bottled olive pomace oil sold in the retail market has virgin or
extra virgin olive oil blended back in for flavor. Olive pomace oil is a
chemically refined product made from the waste products of olive oil
production. It has no odor or taste by itself. Therefore virgin or extra
virgin olive oil is added back into the retail product to give it an olive
taste and aroma.
